Heathland Aquatic Engineering work daily with a vast range of ecologists and commercial clients. We have built a strong and proven track record of all types of wildlife fencing including fencing used to protect water voles.
Since the start of the 1900s the water vole has declined rapidly. There could be many reasons for this including predators such as the American Mink, poor management of UK waterways and also changes in farm management.
Since 2008, the water vole has now become fully protected under the “Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981,” which means it is an offence to interfere in their breeding and resting habitats and it’s illegal to harm or kill them for any reason.
Common installation sites would include;
- New road projects
- New housing builds
- Brown field sites
